The college experience is so much more than just what is experienced in the classroom. Providing opportunities for students to learn and grow, not only as individuals but also as members of a community is an important part of our role. In a diverse and complex world, the ability to have experiences and gain skills that cross over a variety of disciplines only enhance a student’s readiness for success. Here’s how we plan to accomplish this:

Ensure that the structure and responsibilities of student government best suits the needs of the student body, and that student leaders are effectively prepared to take on these roles

• Conduct a comprehensive review of existing bylaws to ensure they support effective governance.

• Review the present governance and leadership structure with respect to its level of representation and operational effectiveness.

• Create a professional development program that supports the needs of student leaders.

• Allow students to build job preparation skills by providing job shadow opportunities within our departments.

• Develop a marketing and communications campaign that promotes the importance of and benefits gained from student engagement in leadership opportunities.

Provide student opportunities that enhance school-life balance through inclusive social engagement and community building activities

• Collaborate with the college to ensure the student experience is heard and the college takes steps to enhance the quality and content delivery in the classroom.

• Ensure that student representation is opportunities exist on academic college committees.

• Actively promote and encourage student participation on academic college committees.
