Our Pillars of Success:
what we will do, and what we strive to achieve!
At the SSU we recognize that we play an essential role in student success. We also realize that it is important to focus our time and energy on the areas and activities that best match the resources of the SSU and the needs of the students.
We will focus our attention and efforts in three main Pillars of Success:
Enhancing the well-being of our students
Our students face many challenges in and out of the classroom and there is a growing need for support to ensure our students feel safe and we provide them with a level of well-being that allows them to achieve their goals.
Creating an environment that promotes a view of the whole student experience
The college experience is so much more than just what is experienced in the classroom. Providing opportunities for students to learn and grow, not only as individuals but also as members of a community is an important part of our role. In a diverse and complex world, the ability to have experiences and gain skills that cross over a variety of disciplines only enhance a student’s readiness for success.
Supporting access and accountability to quality education
A strong and vibrant Student Union is the foundation for advocating for student rights. As leaders within the community, the SSU will focus on ensuring the student voice is present and heard in matters that impact the educational experience. We will be stewards of your trust through effective and engaged governance.
We look to support students through:
Providing SSU led services and programs
Partnering with the college (and other key stakeholders) on joint projects and ventures
Marketing and promoting services and programs that support student needs
Advocating for student rights
