ENHANCING THE WELL-BEING OF
OUR STUDENTS

Our students face many challenges in and out of the classroom and there is a growing need for support to ensure our students feel safe and we provide them with a level of well-being that allows them to achieve their goals. Here’s how we plan to accomplish this:

Create a greater understanding of sexual health, and partner with the college to provide proactive and reactive supports for students

  • Raise awareness of sexual health issues through annual campaigns.

  • Facilitate conversations on and advocate for a safe college environment for all Sheridan students.

Partnering to ensure all services and activities are accessible

  • Ensure the accessibility of all SSU communications, meeting AODA standards and accessibility requirements.

  • Identify emerging student needs and existing service gaps through on-going student engagement.

  • Advocate for and partner with the college to ensure accessibility for all our students.

  • Update SSU website to ensure it complies with the AAA website accessibility requirements and is accessible to all students.

Advocate for affordable and comprehensive health options that meet the needs of all students

  • Coordinate annual reviews of our current health and dental support program, assessing whether it supports the needs of our members.

  • Review the existing health benefits plan to ensure an appropriate level of ‘value’.

  • Examine the impact of the existing health benefits plan for international students in relation to the coverage provided for domestic students.

  • Develop a strategy to ensure internal and external communications associated with our health and wellness services effectiveness and reaching.
