Creating an environment that promotes a view of the whole student experience
The college experience is so much more than just what is experienced in the classroom. Providing opportunities for students to learn and grow, not only as individuals but also as members of a community is an important part of our role. In a diverse and complex world, the ability to have experiences and gain skills that cross over a variety of disciplines only enhance a student’s readiness for success. Here’s how we plan to accomplish this:
Ensure that the breadth of services and activities of the SSU support the diverse nature of the college’s student community
Establish an annual planning strategy to coordinate events and wellness initiatives.
Develop communication strategies that engage with students regularly to gather feedback on the services and activities we provide.
Ensure representation in both on-campus and off-campus committees to advocate for the needs of our diverse student population.
Engage in external partnerships for the betterment of the services and activities we provide for students.
Provide student opportunities that enhance school-life balance through inclusive social engagement and community building activities
Develop an engagement strategy to better understand each campus’s unique culture to ensure effective representation of their needs.
Develop social engagement opportunities for new and returning students to enhance their connection to the school community.
Expand our multilingual service flyers to encompass all essential services and accommodate the growing diversity of our student community.
Expand our social programming to promote both campus specific and cross-campus events
Through SSU initiatives and in collaboration with the college, create experiential opportunities that enhance student success.
Provide employment opportunities and co-op work experiences geared to supporting the academic and socio-economic needs of our students.
Ensure to actively engage with our college partners to seek out collaboration opportunities that enhance student success on and off campus.
Embrace Sheridan’s creative culture, seeking to build unique experiences for our students.
Collaborate with the college to explore opportunities for alternative and work-integrated learning experiences.
